I don't really see it as an elbow room issue.

For example suppose you are zoned MR-4B, which allows eight story, multi-family dwellings. That would probably be something like One Museum Place. Do people have the right to come along and encourage their dogs to poop in front of your home?

Why should you be any more vulnerable to pooping if your zoning is R-2, one house per acre? What level of density kicks in the pooping threshold? What if you are the only house on the street where everybody brings their dog to poop? Is there any limitation and if so why and what is it?

And if dogs can do it why not people, too? Is our poop worse than a dog's?

I'm afraid I'm not one of those who says, "If you choose to live in the city limits of Atlanta you have to put up with whatever comes your way. That's just urban life."

Nope, I totally disagree. I have never seen any law or logic that says if you move intown have therefore agreed to dogs pooping on your property, late night cruising, public urination in your city parks, strip clubs in your neighborhood, and anything and everything else that people want to do, even if they don't live intown or pay taxes or contribute to intown charities.

If anything it should be just the opposite. If cities are going to attract people they need to focus on creating the highest quality of life, not going after the lowest common denominator.

It comes down to the person not having the responsibility to pick up after their dog. Nothing to do with urban, density, or walkable.
