I live in southern Forsyth County in the Mcfarland Pkwy area and my home has been on the market for over a month without an offer. Homes have been flying off the market in the area but my home faces West, most of those moving into the area are of Indian or Muslim decent and I've heard they will not purchase a West facing home.

Is this true? Any advice on what to do in this situation?

My mother is Asian and refuses to buy any homes facing West. She owned a bunch of businesses and would never open a business facing west either. Who knows?

Not to be rude, but are you sure it's because of the way your house faces and not something else?
I also think it's a little presumptuous to think you'd have an offer in about a month. Just because the market is turning doesn't mean we're in the days of bidding wars and such. My house has been on the market since April...

Our family is Korean, and we never buy any property that faces North or West.
They make a really big deal out of it.

What a thing. That's an interesting problem. At first I thought it may be wome sort of feng shui dilemma or even a gardening thing, but I see that isn't really the case.

After googling a bit, it seems that for some, you may be able to add shading to somewhat address the issue. Regarding this other issue for some that involves superstition, I can't fathom what you could do.

You couldn't possibly have the only west facing house on the street so have any of the other west facing one sold?

Now I'm trying to remember what directions my properties face. Ha! Wow. Who knew. OP, perhaps you are going to have to try to market to another demographic. Have you tried re-focusing your efforts? Surely this demographic is not the only looking in your area.

I've gotta wonder about this too.

I'm surprised that it would be only Asians looking for houses in your area. Everyone likes to be near the good schools.

But also - The market isn't anyplace where panicking after 1 month is justified. Have the people who have come to see your house specifically stated it's because it was west-facing? Usually your agent can tell you one way or the other.

I live in a community with lots of asian indians. I know of several who live in west facing homes. I think you are pushing a stereotype that does not exist or at least not 100% of the time.
