Paul George and Kevin Ware would disagree with you. I know both were freak basketball injuries, but seeing these prime athletes snap their calves into a 90 degree angle leaves quite the impression on young kids. And those videos are everywhere now . . . and 1000x more grotesque and shocking to parents than anything related to concussions.

Now, if you want to talk the Joe Theismann hit from LT . . . well, that's a little more like what happened to George and Ware.

Those were two freak injuries in every sense of the word, neither of which occurred to their heads. Concussions can impair basic thought processes and motor control.

I don't care one bit about the head injuries. Let them play the game the way they always have. No one is forcing the players to play the game and there is no longer a shortage of knowledge about the dangers. If you choose to play and make millions of dollars, you might cut your life short... make a choice if you think it is worth it. I don't think there will ever be a shortage of people willing to go out there and compete. It is a trade off. Just don't change the game into the Arena league, all passing, patty-cake game it is becoming.

Those were beyond freak accidents and even then they were just to the legs. But seeing that on live TV is way different than seeing somebody like Tony Dorsett on TV who is basically still a young man but yet he cant even remember his own daughters name. Or what about Jr Seau who shot himself in the chest because he didnt want to deal with the onset of the mental problems and what he had begun to experience. Just like how the MLB will be on life support if Team USA makes a deep run into the cup, the NFL will be on life support as well if we see one of these guys end up in coma or even killed on a Sunday in front of the whole country. I hate to say it, but it is a very real possibility. Football is my favorite sport to watch but I just dont see how they can continue like this without something happening. Cats are getting way too big and way too fast now especially on the D side of the ball for it not to. People like Jadeavon Clowney who are 6'6 and weigh 250 pounds but can run a 4.5 in the 40 are not outliers, they are the future of the NFL.

*side note- I just saw that Paul George injury earlier today...smh....that was hard to watch. Sucks for him. Good for my Hawks though. One less team we have to worry about in the East now

Well get ready for the NFL to turn into the Arena League. Its pretty obvious from the rule changes that have been coming down every year that the direction the league is going in is to that patty cake BS.

Freak accidents are gruesome. I was watching the actual game you guys are talking about and the broadcasters replayed the Ware injury 3 times before they decided to censor it out. Don't watch if you are squeamish. I got rid of the auto-generated preview intentionally.

Kevin Ware injury leg break NCAA basketball Louisville horrific gruesome 3/31/2013 - YouTube

Btw, Ware now plays for GA State. State is going to be a tough tough college bball team if he fully recovers.
