I just accepted a new job in Tucker, GA and will be starting first week of September. I am not from Atlanta and thus not familiar with the area at all. I have an appointment with Promove next week but was hoping to get some opinions and get a starting point for my apartment search as I have very limited time before I need to get moved in. I am locked in with my current lease thus I have limited budget for now until I am done with my current lease.

1. Budget- $500- $650
2. House/Condo/Townhome?- 1 studio/bedroom apartment.
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home)- Working in Tucker, GA
4. Children(public school vs. private)- no children so good public school is not a consideration.
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two- a mix of both
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not?- Not necessary but easy access to the airport is preferred (not by public transit)
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood.- Safety is very important to me, preferably with a lot of young professionals.

Is my budget reasonable for a studio/1 bedroom? What neighboring cities should I consider? I don't necessarily have to limit myself to living in Tucker but I'm also concerned of the traffic. Any apartments you know that are safe for a single woman?

It's a couple apartment communities off Northlake Parkway/La vista Road area. Not sure of the cost though. Also there are some less appealing apartment complexes off Lawrenceville Highway area past Brockett Road that fits that price range. I have personally heard of anything "dangerous" about those apts, just less appealing if you know what I mean.
