I don't know, but I would guess the Taser thing was the cherry on top. Remember EP is also the World's Most Dangerous Suburb. And has been hemorrhaging patrol officers for a while. Chief Blue is a nice man. Just not sure that nice is what you want in an urban police chief.

More like "World's most dangerous suburb", Movoto rankings are just worthless.

I saw he comes from Milledgeville, do you think he had more of a small town mentality and it was not compatible with a place like East Point?

yeah - I think he was in way over his head. Milledgeville is 30K people, EP is 30K people - I think whoever was ont he panels for the hiring pretty much left it at that, and didn't really consider call volume. IIRC, one of the first things he said was "East Point is like a war zone" after coming on board.

Which may be true, but really it's about on par with the rest of Urban Atlanta.

That's not a good start

Maybe he was just stressed and wanted to leave rather than some sort of scandal.

I know right? lol But yeah - I think he was under a microscope - I know there is a 5-year plan that he has been under pressure to provide - it's actually on the agenda for tonight's council meeting. Wonder if that is still gonna be presented?

Slight correction: Milledgeville has just 19,000 residents to East Point's 33,000.

I agree though that he probably didn't know what he was in for by taking the job. While the Movoto article was total BS, East Point is no small town Mayberry like Milledgeville.
