I live in Roswell in an old townhome. I am married with two young daughters. And I am also expecting our 3rd. We have only been here a year this X-Mas. We moved here as a starter home, because of the school system, yada, yada, yada. But now I find North Atlanta a bit overpriced and one way in and one way out on 400 is getting on my nerves.
Its time to purchase a home, where we will most likely settle down in for years to raise our kids in. We're looking for 4+ rooms and at least 2500 sq ft. We are thinking about the Sandtown area in S Fulton where all the new construction is taking place, but it is not very diverse and I am reading about inferior schools. Now I am entertaining Fayette Cty, most particularly Tyrone and other areas near there. Any insight on commute, diversity, price of homes etc. Thanks. |

true, south fulton is mainly black, but the schools are getting better. Fayette county is very close to south fulton but ironically, is mainly white- well, to be more specific, Peachtree City, south Fayette, and a good bit of fayetteville are all white, tyrone, and north fayette are becoming more black. I believe Sandy Creek high school in tyrone is about 1/2 black and 1/2 white. The Tyrone area is growing pretty fast since Peachtree City is mostly filled up. The development in P'Tree city is spreading all over- Tyrone, Senoia, Fayetteville, and East Coweta on hwy 54 (where they are building a million square foot shopping center just over the county line!) The hosuing in Tyrone and nearly all of fayette county is pretty high but u can find some more affordable housing in fayette if u look hard enough, and its definitely more affordable in coweta and fairburn and palmetto. One thing I like about the whole southwest metro area is that its developed and growing, but u dont feel as crowded. check out the whole area!
