GDOT: Stay Off I-285 This Weekend - Around Town - Smyrna-vinings, Georgia | Patch

The Georgia Department of Transportation will take advantage of a hot, dry weather forecast to continue
a trio of projects likely to test the patience of I-285 weekend motorists and the air conditioning of their
vehicles. Accordingly, Georgia DOT is asking the public to avoid travel on The Perimeter if
possible. Lengthy delays at several locations are probable:

Concrete slab replacement continues on westside I-285 and will require a continuous 9 p.m., Friday, to 5 a.m., Monday, closure of two northbound (Inner Loop) lanes between South Cobb Drive and Paces Ferry Road;
Two northbound (Inner Loop) I-285 lanes between Washington Road and Old National Highway will be closed from 9 p.m., Friday, until 5 p.m., Saturday, for bridge joint repairs; and
Between Interstate 75 and Northside Drive on the Top End, continuing sign structure work will close two Inner Loop lanes and one on the Outer Loop continuously (9 p.m., Friday, until 5 a.m., Monday).

Glad I'm never on that side of the perimeter.

Thanks for the heads up, my wife will really appreciate this info.

Did they have signs up on the highway warning about this? I'm wondering if she just completely missed them in her commute.

I also read somewhere that they will be re-striping Centennial Olympic Drive to make it a two way street this weekend.

It was on the article posted above. There's usually cones off to the side, and various electric info signs with next construction warnings, including one on Atlanta Rd, but I didn't see anything specifically warning about this weekend.

Quite ironically my other half went along I-285 without issues Saturday morning, but I wasn't going to chance it in the afternoon on our drive to Roswell for a birthday party. I took Roswell Rd instead.
