This is common knowledge to anyone but a national network. They can't get their head around the idea that anything exists outside of New York. I know, I lived there.

It would certainly wreak no hardship on us.

Anyone who doesn't know Atlanta has a busy and influential airport has been living under a rock. They should also know that there was a band called Nirvana and a hurricane flooded New Orleans.
When I was in Texas and told people I was from Atlanta so many would say "Oh I've been there! Well, the airport. Never actually left." It certainly helps give Atlanta exposure.

Also "Family Guy" creator and mastermind extraordinaire Seth McFarland!

In the "Star Wars" parody trilogy, Stewie (as Darth Vader) states: "... we're in a galaxy far, far away, and we still have to change in Atlanta."

And yet, how many people in this thread have implied that Atlanta's airport is not a big deal and does not matter? It is a HUGE deal! It's pretty much the reason why Atlanta is the city that it is, why it's such a popular place for business, and one of the main reasons why the city was awarded the 1996 Olympics.

To most cities, an airport is simply an origination or destination for travelers. In Atlanta, it drives the entire economy.

It is baffling to me how people outside of Georgia don't understand this.

Why the hate? I think that having the busiest airport in the world would be a pretty good selling point for businesses looking to relocate and considering Atlanta. It's pretty cool.

But I agree with whoever said that you might not guess it because ATL runs relatively smoothly compared to some other places. Who can really tell these things? I never would have guessed that LAX is busier than DFW for example.

In terms of total air traffic in a metro, NYC is busier. London is #1 and Atlanta #4.

Never. But I'd never intentionally change planes in Atlanta. Busy airports are not a draw for those passing through. Every airport is a mall so it's not like Atlanta has any amenities I want.
