There is a point being made by this thread, and I've read all the comments: government based on nothing other than race will fail. The leaders elected or appointed must be qualified and in servitude to their constituents. not just a "party".

To me, this is the one and only reason that Trump can be successful: If he truly wants the best for America, and this isn't some other agenda he has.

I notice a lot of Trump supporters say stuff this and paradoxical, So none of his, anti Muslim, anti immigrant, false racial baiting crime posts, is racist but pointing how it's racist is racist hmmmmm.

Before the 1960's Southern racist voted Democratic, Argue "state rights" hated federal government
Democrat South, Solid South

The South didn't like northern republicans so much they with draw from US and Called it states right wink wink. They didn't like Liberal ideas of Lincoln .

In fact "reconstructtion" was big gov the South didn't like it

Progressive of the north voted Republican

- Bust Monopolies, "Business regulation"
- Square Deal "conservation of natural resources, control of corporations, and consumer protection"
- extending Federal protection to land and wildlif, "United States Forest Service"
- Supported Progressive taxing on the wealthy

Teddy Roosevelt a republican is pretty the opposite of the modern Republican Party, and view completely align with Modern Democrats. The Same with Lincoln.

In the 1920's had a series of republican presidents who believe little inference in The economy by GOV Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover this lead the Great Depression.

In 1940's Democrats had a shake up, Franklin Roosevelt Teddy cousin became a Democrat and pushed Progressive ideal such as the "new deal" The Dems and Republicans start to switch ideology slowly over the next 20 to 30 years.

The Democrat party stated to break up, The 1940's conservative Dixiecrats, are much like the 2010's Republican Tea Party
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixiecrat

But then Democratic in the 60's Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson support the voting and Civil right Acts. This alienate the Southern Conservative Democrat.

But then

Republican South, Southern strategy

Kevin Phillips's Nixon political strategist
"From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that...but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats"

Democrats went from being the right wing to being the left.

Republicans went from being the left to being the right wing.

Racism is not random, Historically southern racist cling on to the idea that Black, non protestants were out to get them take their America away.

Today a lot right wing radio host litteally fear monger to white about minorities. and America has change or is changing for the worst.

Trump is litteally using southern strategy to the extreme he encourage violence he said he will pay legal fees of the puncher.

What I'm fascinated over Trump supporters they don't care about the prejudice stuff he's sayings, As far as policies for little time and broadness he does speak is nothing unique from other Republicans.

Mean while he and his supporters, blaming the general mass media. When the left, the center, right wing media outlet all go outer Trump maybe just maybe they're telling the truth that pretty bipartisan criticize.

The Free press is one of the benefit of being in free a country. A Totalitarian country there is no free press. His supporters put him a "candidate" over the free press. That crazy! This is why Trump is thriving he's supporters made him a demigod. People like him because he's charismatic, They have no logical reason to support him over another republican And they don't care about rational criticize of him. And he use the southern strategy to the extreme that even the republican party find it loopy.

Yeah, because many racist whites are showing themselves to be bigots not hiding behind aversive behaviors or coded language....

I'd be careful with this, as a lot of people use the above to claim that blacks somehow can't run cities as well as their white predecessors, especially in cases where changing economic forces and an outflow of wealthier residents to newer suburbs and exurbs has more to do with a city's decline than its leadership.

With that said, I'll concede there's always the potential to trade away your seasoned administrators in exchange for those who are considered "a better fit" for the changing climate but have far less experience than their predecessors.

Trump may be making things up but the man calls 'em like he sees them. A lot of folks respect the fact that he speaks his mind regardless of whether or not he is factually correct. Bottom line: he doesn't bow down to political correctness.

Alabama is no worse than Georgia on the social progression front. Actually Georgia's racist whites are more covert and coded about their bigotry, and I say this as a Birmingham native that despises rest of Alabama.
