Regardless of who advocates on behalf of or against the possible expansion of MARTA into Clayton, I plan to vote in favor of the referendum in November & hope that it passes.
Normally I leave my car at a GRTA park & ride lot in Jonesboro & commute via Xpress bus into and out of midtown daily.
The ungodly messes of traffic congestion & delays that we encounter both going in and out of Atlanta can be mind-numbingly bad at times.
Because of a service alert I received ahead of time on Thursday from GRTA about possible delays for the Friday evening commute, I instead drove Friday morning to a MARTA station & left my car there. The ride in and out that day via rail was stress free & relaxing & the train was spotlessly clean. I found myself wishing that MARTA service already was already up and running in Clayton County, which is always the dream I have whenever I take MARTA as an alternative to riding the bus.

It's just the old white conservatives who believe MARTA brings crime, they must be strays from Cobb.

It doesn't make sense for Clayton County to have no public transport and it's seems an obvious choice for Marta to provide it. A rail extension from the airport down to those southern suburbs with a couple of park and rides would tremendously relieve commuter traffic on the South Side I believe. It might even spur some development.

I wish Jessie Jackson had stayed out of this though. Something about him gets a lot of White folks really bent out of shape.

Jesse Jackson is good with the older much older population of blacks not many of us younger people don't see the point in Jesse Jackson and with him dipping his foot in this out of the blue actually gets a lot of people bent out of shape. Clayton does need bus service. C-Tran was alright Marta told them what they need to do back when it was in service but Clayton listened a little bit too late. I think it will be a close vote but the outcome maybe a NO

Yeah.. If you follow Clayton News daily at all they are the usual suspects. The only ones who comment are those who are anti-transit anti-progress. In their opinion Clayton needs to revert to the one horse town with the dirt country roads that it was back in the 70s and 80s. The vast majority of the county is pro transit
