Okay,

I have been doing some good research on Gerogia and where would be a good place to call "home". I have narrowed my search to two places: Morrow or Kennessaw. I have recieved wonderful advice from alot of different people and appreciate the time they took to assist me in my relocating. Like I mentioned I'm almost there. Can anyone offer me thier advice on these two cities. Any information that you think would be vital for a young couple with 3 active boys looking to make a new life and prosper. Or if you think another city would be better....We are looking for a city that is family oriented, good schooling, short commute to good jobs, affordable housing, lot's of extra curricular activities for boys......etc...

Morrow or Kennesaw...boy that's a study in opposites. Do your research carefully. Clayton County is always in the news for crime and serious problems with the schools (they are about to lose accreditation). Cobb on the other hand, while not perfect, has good schools and relatively low crime in the Kennesaw area.

Wink Secure a job First!!!

I just came back from Alpharetta to CA after splitting with my fiance. Be careful about moving without a job and home, apartments are less expensive but going up due to the housing market. There are a lot of customer service jobs, administrative jobs but make sure you find some Nationally known agencies here first [Adecco] to register with before you go and transfer your records. There are a lot of young people that have moved to Atlanta with degrees and the pay scales are lower. It will take a while to find a job, I was there 6 months and did assignments you just have to be patient and register with every agency you can if you are not employed yet. It's exciting to move somewhere new and there are a lot of transplants in ATL....there is also a lot of crime, horrible traffic and the smog is unbearable in the summer. Spend some time there before moving there, if you have friends or family there, stay for at least 3 weeks before making a decision. Good Luck

I would suggest thinking about where you want to work, what kind of house or apartment you want and can afford, racial diversity (or lack thereof), crime, taxes, etc.

Pay a visit and do your research. Maybe contact a realtor in the area and look at homes. There are lots of nice areas and plenty of not so nice areas. Some people like being in suburbia with malls and such, and others think it's the root of all evil. I grew up in Brooklyn and Queens and would never raise my family in an urban area, so different folks have different priorities. The ones that usually seem to get the most praise are Cobb, Gwinnett, north Fulton, and on the south side Henry and Fayette counties.

Kennessaw is a great place and has a lot of jobs in the area. The commute to central ATL is also better in Kennessaw than in Alpharetta. I prefer ITP (inside the perimeter or on the perimeter) places, but as far as OTP goes, Kennesaw is one of the best.

I'm trying to configure a compass-like circle line from W. Paces Ferry outward into Cobb County to establish an approx. 30 minute commute time (7:30 am departure). Do you believe my compass circle could include Kennesaw? I guess it depends on how well traffic flows down Cobb Parkway(?). Thanks in advance.
