FOREST PARK — City Council just voted to settle a lawsuit with the owners of two strip clubs the city put out of business almost three years ago. The 3-2 vote was decided in a called meeting Monday night in the case brought by the owners of Pink Pony and Crazy Horse Saloon. Councilwoman Linda Lord and Mayor Pro Tem Maudie McCord voted against the measure, which was approved by council members Latresa Akins, Tommy Smith and Dabouze Antoine. Lord said she objected to future councils being held to the agreement. The terms of the agreement include the right for the clubs to operate unfettered for 15 years. They will also be allowed to serve alcohol until 3 a.m. — other clubs and bars stop at 2 a.m. — and can stay open until 3:30 a.m. Two of the existing strip clubs will be allowed to offer nude dancing and alcohol, but a third establishment owned by the parent company will only be allowed to serve food and alcohol. None of the establishments are allowed to have private rooms, according to the agreement. The city shut down both clubs in January 2012 after public hearings in November 2011. Council changed a city ordinance to allow refusal of an alcohol permit in the cases where a business license had been denied because of allegations of wrongdoing. Under the settlement, the clubs are immune to any other changes in the ordinance for the next 15 years. The clubs have sued Forest Park about a dozen times in recent years and the city prevailed in each case, even getting attorneys’ fees. However, when the clubs filed again last year, newly-appointed city attorney Steve Fincher recommended settling and the two parties were in mediation for months.

If a community wants strip clubs they have every right to have them. Once some of these other cities see the positive effect strip clubs are having in Forest Park they may want to rethink their position.

Aren't strip clubs just another business. How do they affect an area at all.

Strip clubs are a terrible thing to add to a community. Think past your dick and look at the statistics on the areas where they have a high per-capita ratio. Each and every time you will find that the ratio of rapes, pedophiles, home invasion, violent crimes and murder within the community are high compared to cities with a low per-capita ratio of these establishments. It also makes a Big difference where they are located. If they are located outside the business district and residential areas, preferably outside city limits, they have less impact.

Most strip clubs are geared towards Men who want to step out on their mate. Specifically Men who desire teenage Girls. It is an Exclusion of Mate attitude. Sneaking out without your mate doesn't help to build a bond between a couple. It is the opposite of family values.
If they where geared towards an artful display of beauty, Burlesque perhaps, and a inclusion attitude, somewhere a Couple could go together and be entertained, afterwards going home and entertaining each other, it would be an Asset to the community.

Currently, all of them that I have been inside, and from the conversations I've had with many Girls who currently work in or have worked in, is a Sick display of grown Men, Uncles, Grandfathers, Brothers, who have a young lady in their Family who is standing in the lunch line with a free lunch card because no one in their family loves them or values them enough to buy them a lunch ticket because they are sticking their dollars in the vagina of another man's, possibly his Friends' or Neighbors', Daughter, Niece, Grand Daughter. Quite disgusting to me. I have had many conversations with Girls who work and have worked in these places and this is what they are telling me as well.
