Almost all HR trains in the world can only get to 600 feet long marta cars are 75 feet long so 8 cars = 600 feet in New York they use 60 feet long cars so 10 cars = 600 feet.

It's only temporary. MARTA posted this on Facebook:

"MARTA is experiencing mechanical difficulties with our rail car fleet, which is causing a shortage of cars being available for service. We apologize for the inconvenience to our valued customers. We are working hard to make necessary repairs as quickly as we can; however, you may experience some overcrowding until we can restore our trains to a full six car length. We expect to have this issue resolved over the course of the next week. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience while we rectify this situation."

It got so out of control that MARTA PD arrested a man at Five Points for being aggressive.
This still beats sitting in Atlanta traffic.
Was he the guy on the Blue Line Platform that three officers grabbed somewhere around 5:30 or so? I had just gotten to the platform when I saw them strike.

In my experience, it's the Blue and Green lines that get the worse trains. Anecdotally speaking, I was far more likely to see the newer (blue interior) trains on the Red and Gold lines than the Blue and Green lines. It seems to be a little less cut and dry these days however.

Thanks for finding that. I don't use Facebook so I wouldn't have seen it.

Ah, so this is indeed happening. Haven't seen any four-car trains yet.

No, he got pulled off a southbound Red Line, 4 car train around 5pm. The police escorted him to the mezzanine level, via the eastbound platform.

When a train stops and slides, it causes the flat spots.

I'm a daily rider (twice a day) and I've only seen a four car train once in the past few days. It must not be all that frequent.

Interesting. Then there was a second incident up on the Blue Line EB side platform about 30 minutes later. Some of the passengers were saying that he was going to jump or something, but I don't know, I didn't get up there until right as they grabbed him.

Yes, I know that, but why all of a sudden? Leaf season? I don't remember so many flat spots before, but then again I didn't become a daily rider until a month ago. I have another theory, but I'm waiting for some replies on another forum before speaking.

I didn't see any at all today, though there were still a few flat spots on the trains that were running. Hopefully they get this squared away and done with the four-car nonsense.
