The AJC says the Braves are looking to create the vibe around Coors field.

Quote:
DENVER — It’s a fall Sunday in Denver, and Coors Field, home to the Colorado Rockies, is padlocked. But the streets surrounding the baseball stadium are bustling.

The Denver Broncos, the city’s football team, is playing on TV, and a half a dozen bars and restaurants within a Peyton Manning pass of Coors Field are overflowing. Surprisingly, it’s patio weather in the city that sits at the foot of the Rocky Mountains. That means the party is as much outdoors as it is inside. Revelers are on rooftops. Diners are taking their meals outside, with one eye on the home team and another on the scenery of Lower Downtown — LoDo to the locals.

Welcome to what many urban planners call the best stadium neighborhood in America. LoDo earns such praise because Denver planned and delivered beyond expectation large-scale urban revitalization tied to the construction of its baseball stadium. While some big cities, including Atlanta, have failed live up to plans to use stadium construction as a catalyst for redevelopment, Denver has executed its vision of walkable streets, high-end condos and restaurants and bars that draw visitors 365 days a year.

Atlanta’s decades-long inability spur development around Turner Field is the reason that one year ago the Braves announced the team would not renew its lease. Now the team is looking to Denver and a handful of other cities as a model for creating a live-work-play development anchored by a stadium.

More....Coors Field experience is what Braves want to emulate

Mostly just southern sunbelt cities that failed to do it. The actual urban, walkable cities like NYC, SF, Chicago have neighborhoods that are vibrant around their stadiums, but then again, they're far better, world class cities.

We've been doing the best we can, Ant.

The new Braves stadium could mark a turnaround.

Coors Field is right in a walkable, transit connected downtown area like most great stadium environments. Braves will not find that in their new location in Cobb. But at least the Turner Field area can redevelop into a vibrate walkable area now.

Nope, couldn't. Even the Braves is moving from Atlanta because they fail at creating urban, vibrant neighborhoods. Lmao.

Good to see they're targeting non-chain restaurants that aren't in the market yet (whether or not they're successful remains to be seen). So hopefully people can stop being snarky about the development having Applebees and Cheesecake Factory and whatnot.

so basically the braves management are a bunch of idiots. They are moving to an area where it will be impossible to recreate a Coors Field like experience. Do these people have a clue where Coors Field is located in conjunction to other parts of Denver? Coors field is located in the middle of multiple vibrant neighborhoods: Highlands, Downtown, Uptown, and the River North Art District.
