I'm trying to make a home for myself here, to stay.
I have my issues with Atlanta, and its where my family are now but I've been happier here in New Orleans than I ever thought possible. Many new friends as well.
(although the roaches, ohhhh, the roaches...I'm dealing with them)

Don't think of them as roaches! Those big suckers are not roaches. They're tree bugs!
Seriously, the giant roaches you're talking about live in all the trees. They come in during cold weather and crawl all over your porch in the summer. But they don't live in your house (mostly). The small roaches are the house roaches.
Like you, I needed to get out of New Orleans. I find a great deal about Atlanta that I like (weather! job! friends). I live in Candler Park and find that it reminds me of parts of old Metairie. So I live here and go back to visit NOLA.
So, please stay! She really needs people who love her.

Oh I am planning on staying. Not to hijack the OP's thread, but I've known people who have moved to New York and really sit and think wow I live in NEW YORK. I feel that way about being here, and perhaps not having grown up here I'm a bit more optimistic than some...but I'm also inclined to become involved politically here as well.
Things I saw as impossible seem possible here, to me.

I know what you mean. I am more politically active here...kind of like I am determined to stay here and make GA more BLUE!
Anyway, back on topic, though the OP should really consider NOLA and go to UNO for starters... The University of New Orleans

There is also the School of Continuing Studies at Tulane which is where I am taking classes. I went to UGA originally and was going to go to UNO here til I found out about SCS Tulane, which is much cheaper than "regular" Tulane even though the classes are pretty much the same, and at the end of it all my degree will still say B.A. Tulane University. School of Continuing Studies
I am not putting down UNO either, I may look at grad school there.

I really can't recommend strongly enough that you consider moving somewhere in Florida.

If your movin to Santa Monica, the rats nests apartments go for around 2K a month and are about 1100 sq ft. If you want to live in a great apartment they go for about 4-5K a month. If your comin to LA to get away from all the boredom and loud Rap Music, your in for a shock. I suggest you get your teeth capped gold in Atlanta because it will be cheaper than LA and start wearing your Raiders Hat on Sideways, that way you'll fit in to LA.. You could probably hook up with K-Fed when you get out here and tell him how good lookin you are and he will hook you up with everything G...

The education system here is the worst I have ever experienced too by the way(I was lucky enough to home school my last semester of high school so I could actually learn something). All we ever learned was how to take the standardized tests to get the schools more funding. How the hell is that supposed to prepare me for college? Case in point it doesn't.
Also how can you defend your state when you elected this guy twice?
MilkandCookies - Stephen Colbert vs Congressman Lynn Westmoreland (GA)
Seriously you contribute nothing to this topic so get out, or I will continue to lambast you.
Plus I just noticed your screen name and I hope to God you actually are the mayor because that would effectively prove my point of how horrid Georgia really is.
I can see it now: Georgia the place where mayors come into your topics to provoke flame wars with depressed twenty year olds instead of actually doing something to better his crummy state!

Its not that you couldnt learn you choose not to, if African children can learn while there parents are at home trying there hardest to fight off deadly diseases, im sure you can learn, if Afganistanian can learn while half there country is in termoil you can learn. Learning its not solely based on what the teacher teaches learning goes beyond the classroom, into public libraries, and study sessions, you want to meet people there it is. Learning goes beyond the teacher teaches but what you do in and out of class. Isend my heart out to New Orleans but you'd take murder capital of the world over Atlanta, you have got to be kidding me. Its always what someone can do for us never what we can do for anybody else. Leave like vsmoove said and stop bitching!

I am not sure how I ended up here...
but anyhow here it goes...
Join the armed forces son and do something for your country..maybe it will give you some time to grow up, mature and decide on what you want to do. Don't blame your dissatisfaction with life on other Georgians or on other races .. get out there live and learn. Hopefully you will leave behind your xenophobia...we truly don't need more of that in the world.

World? No.
Nation? No actually.
And yes I DID choose New Orleans over Atlanta.
