I need to get the hell out of Georgia
I have lived here now for 15 years and I hate it. I am 20 now and am highly intelligent. I bring great grades in school even though it's a crap community school(GPC). I am not bad looking and many would say I am good looking. If anything I lack any life. I am morose constantly and it's because of Georgia I realize. The people here are unintelligent for the most part and are extremely backward. I need to move elsewhere where I will feel alive again because Georgia has sucked the life out of me.
I have been looking into going to Santa Monica, California to go to SMC(Santa Monica College) for a semester to get my last 4 credits making me eligible to go to UCLA which I would definitely get accepted to. The problem is though that housing is so expensive I would have to live in the dumps so to speak. My question is where is a comparable place that is cheaper perhaps with good schools as well? I plan to get a law degree eventually so somewhere with a good law program is a plus.
I also would love something to do which is why I was looking at California. Beaches are amazing as are the many other fun things Californians have to do.
Anyways if you have any questions shoot. I currently live in Suwanee, Georgia which sucks for a single twenty year old college student.

The problem isn't Georgia. The problem is that you're 20-years-old and still live at home with your parents in the burbs. Go West, son. California is a great place to go, especially since you're moving out for the first time. However, you should post on the Los Angeles boards rather than here. Good luck!

You're just like any other wanderlust young-un. And you SHOULD get out! Go to a real college in another state. Go to New Orleans and enroll in the UNO. Go to New York and enroll in NYU!
You're 20 and have lived in Georgia for 15 of those years! Get out! Go see stuff!!!
There's not much to offer a 20 year old in Suwanee.
If you don't have a lot of money then move into the city of Atlanta and enroll in GSU. Find a roommate on craigslist. Get a job as a server at The Vortex. Go have a good time in a place with a lot of people!
Atlanta might still be in Georgia but it's a far cry from Suwanee and you can't really tell what it's like from just weekend visits or Braves games.

You might want to post this on the California forum rather than this one. Just a suggestion. Most people posting here want to move to Georgia and looking for positive things about GA.

Ya but I have seen all in Atlanta lately because my Dad bought a condo down in Atlanta and I stayed there by myself for a good while and it felt the same just with more thugged out African Americans bumping crappy ass music. Is Lousiana really all that? I have never been. I also posted here because hopefully other Georgians who have had similar problems or know people similar to I who have left could tell me where they left to and how much they like it. I already know loads about Santa Monica and LA but it's too expensive so it seems like I need to find a better option.
Thanks again for the quick replies!
I also could move out with my job and stuff but I don't want to move unless it is out of the state. No sense spending all that money on something I hate.

You haven't been in the same part of Atlanta I have. Where did your dad buy a condo? You sound like a Little 5 Points kind of guy. And sounds like you need to go to a full fledged university, not community. You need access to all the extra curricular things you find at a full univerity.
Depends on what part of Louisiana. In NOLA you can live in the Garden District and find lots of artsy people. Go west and it's all Cajuns. Go north and you might as well be in Arkansas...
If I were you I'd move first to Atlanta, find a roomie on craigslist, some situation where you can get out in 6 months or a year. Go to East Atlanta Village or Cabbagetown or Little 5 where it's funky and you can find all kinds of different people.
Then enroll in GSU. Learn to take MARTA.
In other words, use Atlanta as a starter-city. It's cheaper to live than anywhere in Cali. After a year in Atlanta in areas like I described you will know for sure if you really want to get out.
And if you do, then GO!
I'm originally from Louisiana and I couldn't WAIT to leave when I was your age. I ended up here and I like it.

Well I hate to be the first to break the ice but there are several ways to exits Georgia and head west there's I-20, I-85, I-75 onto I-24,, there's also Hartsfield Jackson International if you just cant wait to go. There's also Savannah Hilton Head Airport, im sure there is an Amtrak train that can take you west.
There was really no need for you to get on here an insult anyone's intelligence, I dont care who you are or what you look like! Im sure Georgia doesnt really need you, especially for you to insult anyone's intelligence. So while your leaving picture the 4 million people that moved to the Atlanta suburbs in 5 years. Also if im your reason for leaving so be it!

I've been to Little 5 and GSU(had lots of friends that went there) and it was nice. It just seemed a little like the same thing over and over. Go shopping, watch the crap Falcons, go to a movie, go to some random parties which aren't all that great because Georgia girls leave lots to be desired, go to some concerts which are way spaced out making it to where good artists come once in a blue moon when compared to better cities where 311 or Jack Johnson play a show every 5 months rinse and repeat. I mean yes I haven't experienced it but that is the gist of what all that has to offer. Yea there are some cool people but they are few and far between.
That was rambling sorry but hopefully you see what I am trying to say. I guess I am just really ready to get out and nothing can keep me here and thank you for trying to help and convince me otherwise but I am really hard headed and nothing can make me want to stay anymore. Too many red necks, stupid people, thugged out African Americans playing crap crunk music, wigger people all over, and on top of it all my neighborhood has turned into Korea/China since they opened an Asian market next to my neighborhood. ha
