PDF from the Central Atlanta Progress website. According to this map, Andrew Young International Boulevard will be extended to Northside Drive at Magnolia Street. I guess it's official then? http://www.atlantadowntown.com/_file...stment-map.pdf

I wonder what would happen if other areas had the same massive planning, investment and support that has been funneled into downtown for the last 60 years?

Please don't turn this into another Atlanta vs Cobb thing. I'm just asking about one street extension. If you can answer the question for me, great.

A promising sign. But I don't know if it is official yet. I certainly hope so!

Georgia World Congress Center Authority?s proposed new high-end convention hotel (SLIDESHOW) - Atlanta Business Chronicle

Based on the pictures it looks like the hotel would block the extension but hopefully it will be built on the southern portion of the current Georgia Dome site and allow the extension. That would really change the landscape of Northside Drive. There is no way Atlanta would allow for one side of the street to house a glitzy hotel and then right across the street have run down buildings and vacant lots. I can't say development would go all the way into Vine City but Northside Drive would definitely see some condo/apartment mixed use development along the street on the Vine City side from MLK to Jos E. Boone. It's only logical to think SOME of that development would extend a few blocks into Vine City. And the entrance into downtown would actually be one of the nicest going past all the development with the new hotel, GWCC, and the Omni Hotel at Young Blvd and Marietta St. Hope it happens.
