Hey y'all.

Things are zipping along with my transition to Georgia life. The kids are enjoying being able to play outside. They are also enjoying practicing their "sirs" and "m'ams". It is hilarious to hear them! They use it constantly, "sir" and "m'am-ing" absolutely everyone in their 20s and older. They are "sir" and "m'am-ing" foreign people. And when speaking to Latinos, they are saying "sir" and "m'am" in Spanish. They are out of control.

And now to the point: I need something good to listen to on the radio while I curse at my Garmin*.

Could you recommend some good radio stations for me to put in my pre-sets? I like pop, rock, soft rock, 80s/90s, classic rock, and Latin music (salsa, merengue, bachata, reggaeton and such... Not into ranchera and quebradita).

Thank you!

*What is up with the Garmin here? I have never been so misled by the darn thing! We wanted to go to Marlow's Tavern last week and it directed us to the one in Cumming, when (I found out some days later), there are two Marlow's Taverns in Alpharetta, where I live. I have more stories of aggravation from the Garmin, but I won't bore you with them. Got to go to bed. It's late enough now that I should be able to fall asleep without remembering that I found a cockroach in my bedroom this week.

Forget the radio stations here, they are awful. I went with satellite and am quite happy.

Gotta concur about the current state of radio in Atlanta. But, if you absolutely, positively gotta have something going, you can tolerate 11-minute commercial breaks [count them out some time; I dare ya], and you're not able to connect an MP3 player...

94.1 plays Hot AC
96.1 plays Top 40 [surprised to learn just now that ClearChannel no longer owns this]
97.1 plays classic hits
98.5 plays soft rock
99.7 plays Top 40
100.5 plays rock

I have satellite radio, myself, and I couldn't be happier. Yeah, you do pay a monthly subscription, but for $6/month, and no commercials on a wide variety of music channels [evidently, talk radio hosts still need bathroom breaks once in a while], it really is worth it.

I'm sure there are some decent radio stations in GA, but the reception stinks, especially in North Fulton.

Think you'll find its the same in every city.....syndication and radio groups have pretty much assured that.

Thank you for getting me some numbers to program in! I'll probably be just fine with the stations around here. It's not like I'm moving from NYC or LA.

I will keep satellite radio in mind for sure, though. I think my car is wired for XM radio.

This. XM is the only thing I listen to now. Over the air radio in Atlanta is horrible.
