My wife and I will be moving to Atlanta this coming June for a job opportunity. We will be living in the area for just one year. Ideally, we want to be located in Midtown, and close to Emory University on Peachtree St. We are looking for a 1 bedroom in a highrise apartment with a nice view of the Atlanta skyscape and with amenities such as a pool. Our budget is around $2,000/month in rent, plus and minus.

So far, we have these on our shortlist: Skyhouse Midtown, Mezzo, Metropolis, Viewpoint, and 1280 West. Anyone here has any recommendations or opinions on any of these apartment complex?

Good list to start. So you will be renting?

I lived in Viewpoint for a few years and was quite happy with it.

From my experiences doing many, many stints of overnight dogsitting for years in various complexes & mid/high rises in Midtown, I would encourage you to specifically try to get feedback on the current noise factors in the various buildings you have expressed interest in, whether it be noise transmitted from unit to unit, from floor to floor, from a hallway into a unit or from street noise that rises up.
Obviously the noise will vary according to the quality of the structure, as in how sound is deadened between units & according to the tenant mix as well as the siting & relationship of the building to nearby streets and the types of traffic the streets carry along with the time range of when traffic or joyriding occurs.
In view of all of those factors there was nevertheless for me a surprising amount of variation in the noise range in Midtown.

The latter three are condos, but usually have units for rent within that price range. Skyhouse South is also on the same block as Viewpoint and is identical to Skyhouse Midtown.

Yes I will be renting, and will be just for a year. Is my price range appropriate for what I'm looking for? Any comments on the various apartments?

I would look into Plaza Midtown as well. It's a couple of blocks off Peachtree, but you have your own private elevator straight to a Publix grocery store, and that's a pretty sweet amenity!

I'd also look into 1010 Midtown, but I don't know the price range those are renting for. Spire is also something I would consider.

Incidentally, I believe that Spire, Metropolis, and Viewpoint pretty much all feature the 3/4 wall that doesn't go all the way up to the ceiling in most of the 1-bedrooms, meaning for all intents and purposes, they are glorified studios. Not sure if that matters to you. It does to me because if one person wants to watch TV while the other reads or sleeps in another room, there's really zero noise separation.
