Currently, the only information I have is a tweet...

...but it appears that MARTA will finally add wifi to its bus and train systems in 2015.

All I can say is, finally! Feel free to discuss below, but please...no tangents.

Good news.

How does this work, by the way -- that is, where to they get the signal that they are dispersing via wifi?

Probably similar to how they do it on jet airplanes.

"Thru" the air.... Many trains / Intercity buses use the Cellular based Data network for WiFi.

For the buses, a WiMax (Sprint run Clear WiMax with very good Atlanta Coverage) More or less it 4G++++

For the trains a in tunnel Radio (WiMax) network, would need to be built, or as a add on to MARTA, Own DataNetwork they have in the tunnels now.

Would it be free I wonder or with one of those splash pages where you have to pay to sign in.

Actually considering the push for revenues, a pay service would not surprise me. I think free would be a great incentive though.

They could charge $10/month unlimited on buses, trains, and stations.

Unless it's free, it won't attract anymore ridership.
