ERMAGERD!!!! I just opened my first water/sewer bill. The total is close to $600. It is a one month bill. I checked the dates and they are not billing me for any dates before our possession of the home.

Is this what people have to pay around here for their water and sewer? The sewer amount alone was close to $400.

Where we lived before, I usually paid around $80/month and that included water, sewer, garbage and recycling.

That is unusually high. I would called the city to dispute that. You may have a leak or your toilet may be running in your home.

Yes that is high. We had bills over $1000 for several months running and it was an error in billing. We called to dispute it and were told to pay only what our bill usually was on average until we got the disputed bills settled. You would have to ask neighbors to guess what it is supposed to be. But call the city. They switched meter systems not too long ago and had a bunch of errors. A plumber can check for leaks and have him sign a receipt saying no leaks if he doesn't find any. You have to do this as part of the dispute process, I believe. The man I spoke with in the dispute dept was named Ishmael and he was the most efficient and knowledgeable city worker I have ever dealt with.

1. If you are in the city of Atlanta, they have the highest rates in the country.
2. There have been lots of billing errors in the cities and counties around here lately.

My brother's first "welcome to Atlanta " bill (Candler Park) was $2100.00. He did have a leak, discovered and repaired before he moved in. He also had a broken meter. The city settled with him for under $200.00.

What are people's bills usually, if you don't mind me asking?

It is lucky for Atlanta that Millenials love huge water/sewer bills.

My water sewer for a tiny apt in atlanta was about $120/mo. Now for a 2200sq foot house in cobb it's about $40/mo. City of atlanta water sewer rates suck.
