"VH1 gives viewers a rare glimpse into the unique world of ATL Greek life with the series premiere of “Sorority Sisters”* on Monday, December 15 at 9:00 PM ET/PT. Nine women, who continue to honor the traditions and legacies of their respective sororities and chapters, all agree on one main principle: sisterhood doesn’t end after graduation, it’s for life. For these friends and sisters (or ‘sorors’) from celebrated historically black colleges and universities in Atlanta, strong ties to their organizations lead to fierce rivalries, but through thick and thin, these women stand united and share an unbreakable bond..."

Man so many people including sorority leaders are against this show. By looking at the trailers looks like another drama filled reality show, hopefully they educate people about the history of the black sorority and what they stand for, but I doubt it. Ill check out the first show to see what how it goes.

"VH1 debuted it’s latest reality TV show, “Sorority Sisters,” Monday. The first hearing of this idea raised eyebrows and prompted a petition which garnered 40,000 signatures but it was to no avail.

Members of the respective organizations are not taking this one sitting down and are refusing to allow their Greek letters to be misrepresented or exploited in the name of entertainment. They are now going after advertisers who support this programming..."

More trash!!!! More validation of sassy behavior; of out of control unmarrriagable low life women (regardless of their educational background). Why are black people (the obvious demographic) so easily fooled? Or is it black women? And of course gay men. They love this crap. Back in it's hey day, The Real Housewives (i.e. trash) gained national prominence when none other than gay Anderson Cooper shocked everyone by saying he was not only a fan of the show, but he loved that ghetto man-woman NeNe Leakes. Why do we accept this trash...this repeated theme of trash? So sad.

Twitter backlash against VH1′s ‘Sorority Sisters’ prompts advertisers to pull out

"The premiere of VH1′s controversial new reality show “Sorority Sisters” was met with an overwhelmingly negative reaction on Twitter. Now, after pressure from the show’s critics, who say it portrays black Greek life in a negative light, some advertisers are reconsidering airing ads on the network.

Carmex announced that it would pull its ads from the network until VH1 cancels the program..."

Update: Several other advertisers including Honda, Crayola, and JBL, a subsidiary of Harman International, have also said they are pulling their ads from the show. State Farm has responded to inquiries saying that they do not air commercials during Sorority Sisters.

I am not Greek myself but I don't understand why they just could't be kicked out of their respective organizations. That would automatically have the show cancelled because they would no longer belong to their respective sororities. Are there rules in place that would prevent that?

I just saw this show on Youtube lol...Ive heard there were some people not wanting the show to come on. This show seems like the other Atlanta shows, attractive chicks fussing and fighting with each other. I dont see the big deal though about why the show should not be on, it represents Atlanta perfectly to me.

Water Cooler chats...I think they like "talking about the Tea" and "Reading each other" I think TEA means gossip, and Reading means teasing or slamming someone. Many women and homosexuals seem to really enjoy these kinds of shows, so there is a market for it. Not only is there a market but there is coverage media like ESPN for Reality Shows and the shows based on African Americans has many blogs, websites and TV shows that cover it. The other morning I remember hearing Ryan Cameron make a comment about how they never interview any of the Falcons or Hawks players. Even the good players from local sports teams are never interviewed, but every cast member From these ATL shows gets featured. Kinda makes you think....why would they not have Julio Jones or Matt Ryan as a guest? Sometimes they interview Civil Rights people and Frank Ski used to do that pop warner football thing with the kids, but Black Atl radio is notorious for these Reality Star interviews so they kinda feed the flames. What you bring up just kinda makes me wonder. All of these shows are nationwide shows and people dont like to admit that how these shows represent the women of Atlanta, but people do think the women in Atlanta behave like the women on these shows. Even though thats not really accurate.
