Exactly, they have to reason to have a flashy hq here or anywhere else in the US. Sadly they will likely end up at Perimeter.
Handouts might sweeten the deal, but it's New Jersey's notoriously HIGH costs for EVERYONE that make doing business there so difficult. Those northern states make it very difficult with high taxation, high costs, and regulatory burdens to be successful. That's what happens when you choke the golden goose: no more golden eggs.

Why is it sad to be moving to Perimeter? Perimeter is just as much part of metro Atlanta as Buckhead is. Several companies have moved into Atlanta proper recently. Remember PulteGroup is in Buckhead. And isn't WorldPay moving to Atlanta from Sandy Springs? State Farm is already in Perimeter building a corporate campus. I would welcome the chance to help Perimeter Center grow. The more business and more people it gets, the more it will help it become more sophisticated.

Because Perimeter is a mess. Buckhead is only a marginally better mess.

A mess how? You mean traffic choked and so forth? I suppose a good case for that exists, but if that is one's standard NYC must be the biggest "mess" on earth since it is always choked with traffic and pedestrians. Atlanta will never be free from congestion again as it has grown too large to *not* have it. If I had my wish and they do relocate, it would move downtown as I think they need an injection of something major.

Cities have traffic and they wouldn't be cities if they didn't. NYC is very dense.

I didn't say that Perimeter is a traffic mess (which it is very bad). It's a bigger problem than that because it wasn't designed to be a major employment center and it can't be retrofitted to be one.
Again neither can Buckhead.

Jacksonville has a better airport and I think Florida has no state income tax. Jacksonville is also closer to a major university for talent than Savannah.

Hmm.....
Jacksonville sucks! It reminds me of walking around a huge Walmart on the redneck/ghetto side of town. That's Duvalllllll in a nutshell

And someone could easily say Atlanta sucks and it reminds them of being in a never-ending rap video being filmed inside a suburban megachurch and it takes you three hours to drive 20 miles because traffic is always horrendous.

But those would be dumb stereotypes that have nothing to do with the subject at hand--like your statement.
