Like the rest of the world, much of the Atlanta business community shut down in March due to the Covid-19 pandemic. One of its legacies: exposing the discrepancies between minority groups, both in health care and within the economy.

“The pandemic has exacerbated the underlying tear in the fabric of our social and economic network, in the region and across the country,” said Doug Hooker, executive director of Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) during Atlanta Business Chronicle’s virtual June 16 event, “Defining Atlanta Q2: A Look at Atlanta’s Economy Amid Covid-19.” “We all know the pandemic has had a disproportionate, deadlier impact on African Americans in Georgia. And for African Americans, the small business is often where most of us find our job base...”
