Worst kept secret finally made public. This has been "the word" since soon after the Braves announcement last November.

Unfortunately, it looks like they will use it for parking.

The articles says they will relocate to Wildwood, therefore remaining in Cobb.

Sure. Many of the Peoplestown businesses and residents that left after Atlanta-Fulton Stadium was built still stayed in Atlanta too. Doesn't mean the stadium was good for the neighborhood (or for the city as a whole for that matter).

And 82 acres of nothing replaced by a $1.1 billion mixed-use development.

Plus, a new building being constructed in Wildwood for GPC.

Well now that area has an opportunity to be redeveloped. Let's hope for a win-win, instead of somebody losing big.

They've had class A space right off Powers Ferry at Windy Hill for a while. The building down by the new home of the Atlanta Braves was built in the 1960s or early 1970s and showed it. It's been due for work or the wrecking ball for a while.

Sorry the move doesn't comport with your vision of a dying suburban county.

They consolidated from two offices into the one that is a whole mile away from the stadium. You are completely barking up the wrong tree with your trolling on this one...

I am sure the CoA was doing the same justification in the 1960s when Peoplestown businesses moved a mile away into downtown.

Cobb-folks can be happy about the mixed use competent of the stadium. It looks great. But having corporate HQ paved over by by parking lots should be a cause for concern. Cumberland Mall is rightly trying to fight this too: Cumberland Mall tries to block new Braves stadium over parking - CBS46 News What happens if they want to expand the mall in a few years? They can't because the Braves need the parking. Plus they will lose business if their customers have start avoiding the area due to traffic and parking issues.

But the real concern is going to be the smaller companies that have a floor or two in the surrounding towers. If they decide not to renew their lease when it comes up in five years, it will not make headlines. But those smaller losses will start to add up and cause real problems for the area.
