Anyone remember, "We'll have it opened and ready by Spring 2014.". I do.

Anyone remember, "We'll have it opened and running by Summer 2014". I do.

Anyone remember, "We'll have it opened by Fall 2014". I do.

Anyone remember, "We'll have it opened by November 2014". I do.

Anyone remember, "Well have it opened by Mid-December". I do.

Now Reed is saying he pledges it will be opened by the 31st. I'm so embarrassed for this city. This is already a win for the anti-transit folks. I'm willing to bet 6 months after opening, the numbers will be another win for them, if it ever opens.

It was a chance for Atlanta to finally show everyone that they're ready to begin expanding their transit. They just failed. Failed. They really can't open a tiny 2 mile streetcar line on time? Really? Okay, I can expect a delay or two...fine! We're almost the next year they promised. And I know the Atlanta boosters will give excuses for the city, but that's not going to be the thing that gets more streetcars on the streets of Atlanta.

Embarrassing. Congrats to the post-driving/anti-transit crowd. A big win for you. Atlanta NEVER does anything right. It's become a joke.

Unfortunately, I have to agree. Though I'm looking on the side of optimism, that when the next phase is opened, the reasons for these delays will be known and able to be mitigated.

I will reserve judgment until it opens.

Any day now.

What is interesting is that other cities have already built similar train systems in their downtown (e.g. Houston). You would think they would have studied those other cities, learned from their mistakes, and been ready for a smoother roll out. They're acting like this is the first time it has ever been done.

Stop sounding so emotional like you been watching a Lifetime movie. Man up and have a conversation like a man and take the emotions out of it. I feel like I'm watching a Tyler Perry play or listening to a Keith Sweat cd. Btw your new nickname is Keith Sweat.

To answer your question streetcars take time. It's not like this is a skateboard the city is operating. It's a streetcar. It will launch by midnight on Dec 31st. They have to make sure they receive approval from state and federal authorities first. He just can't draw some lines in the street, put a streetcar over those lines and just operate it. It has to be federally approved to make sure everything is right. It is no difference than trying to get a license from the gov to run a business.

So stop with the emotional post dude. I see most of you all never ran a business where you had to get tons of approvals to operate. Well let me tell you it's a long process. Hell it's a long process to get an alcohol license let along approval for a streetcar. Hell getting state approval is a long process without even adding federal requirements. The darn thing will be operating soon. I see it every time I'm downtown. Just because it runs all day doesn't mean it is ready. Geezzzzzz. People are acting like the city is opening a Waffle House. It's a freakin streetcar in the streets with sorry driving idiots. They have to make sure this thing is as idiot proof as it can get because two idiots have already caused accidents with the streetcar already. They just trying to make sure the thing runs smooth.

Judging by your post history, I bet you were just gleeful typing that sentence out...

It's not a "win" for anyone. That's the point. It's a boondoggle and a waste.
