Good write up in the NYT. Lots of quotes from different people with different thoughts on the system: Atlanta Hopes a Three-Mile Streetcar Route Will Help Foster a New Urban Image

I'm going to ride the streetcar on friday. I've never ridden the MARTA lines north of 5 Points so I'm gonna drive to the North Springs station and ride all the way down to Peachtree Center and ride the streetcar from there.

I predict that this time next year we'll be discussing all of the development happening along the route, and the expansion to the BeltLine.

Just a thought.

That could very well be the case, especially the expansion part.

I agree. The streetcar has without a doubt been a major factor in the transformation of areas along and within a short distance of the tracks, but nothing that is happening five miles from Woodruff Park is because of the streetcar.

Half a mile is a pretty reasonable distance, and that matches up with the kinds of things that are announced at each stop. Speaking of that; the stop at Edgewood and Hillard is announced as a connection to the MARTA blue and green lines. I hadn't thought about it, but it makes sense because it's only 0.4 of a mile from King Memorial station. In the future that's how I'll get to the streetcar instead of taking the extra ride from Five Points to Peachtree Center.

I really hope the city and MARTA get live streetcar arrival data going soon so it can be added to Google Maps; then it'll actually become reliable for me.

Well, if I was still downtown I would check it out. I walked around for 30 minutes and didn't see hide nor hair of the thing.
