I think this is fair. Were the rankings of engineering schools, then, of course, Ga. Tech would rank first. But, over all, UGA has a more diverse course offering, a better social scene, a more fulsome athletics program, a prettier campus in a true college town, and the like.

Pffffttt...not a single one of these schools can claim the production of anything useful, like the Polio vaccine, which was created at Pitt.

Right you are! I don't know if any of those schools did anything highly significant. Luckily that ranking is within Georgia alone.

I don't know the methodology, but prettier campus? social scene? That would knock Georgia Tech and Georgia State out of the top 10.

I received a damn good law school and business school education at UGA. Your comment is silly at best.

And what great accomplishment have you imparted to the world thanks to UGA?

Which school claims to be the birthplace of anesthesia?

Predicated on the ability to get a GOOD sustainable job and career afterwards, THE reason for going to school it should look like this?

1) Georgia Tech....period.
2) Emory.....especially medical
3) UGA....large alumni for those that really can't get a job without one
4) KSU or Georgia State, pick one. Southern Tech/Poly gives KSU an edge overtime...growing, big time, excellent business school along with UGA and GSU's business schools
5) Mercer...the home of the masters degree
6) Georgia Southern...too much party but, improving...just big. Not really that good. Town blows
7) Barry, maybe...excellent academics, better for graduate...see mercer
8) GCSU to become a teacher as they have no other value...good liberal, low paying arts
9) SCAD for those that TRULY have artistic talent, the other 90% should try elsewhere..rip off
10) Georgia Technical College System- more value than one might think....they are everywhere and help future would have been Walmart greeters do much better in life and stay off the meth.

Honorable mentions:
Valdosta State, Columbus State, West Georgia, chick college in Decatur.....Norma Rae's have to come from somewhere and represent the voice of female rage...while good in academics, no one cares.....the rest are well....there.....

Spellman? Only if you wish to stay in that vertical. the whole triangle is always struggling financially, ask any vendor.
Moorehouse? Only for medical
perimeter now that it will truly and finally be part of Georgia state...GSU has FINALLY figured out that their customer is in the burbs and doesn't want, appreciate or desire to drive there. Less police will be needed and rapes per capita will lower over time as fewer will go downtown to the office buildings..ahem, "campus". What a Shiite hole. Bring a gat. Shame too because the school IS good. You just shouldn't have to risk your life to attend.

Georgia Tech suffers the same to a lesser degree but, in Tech's case, whaddda career, huh? 55-75k to start and the employers ARE hiring those kids. No secret that the Hindus, Asians, and Pakis go there en masse. It's WORTH the risk going to tech. With ANY of their engineering degrees you are on your way!!!. It's the nerdy, employable version of UGA.

Chicks go to UGA to obtain a Mrs degree. Daddy (Deddy) can only carry them so far. Without it, they head to hooters for employment and pink pony afterwards. They change their names to Porsche or Mercedes and join the evening "Ballet". Which in top retrospect is either an excellent career move for some or simply the first smart decision they have ever made, on their own. A degree in "Marketing" will only take one so far no matter how good of a boob job one gets while attending UGA. It's the school to "experiment" and apologize profusely later when the photos show up on Facebook. Especially after your engagement is announced. Thank god for alums, huh?

Georgia State is for those that wish to pontificate on all matters meaningless along the commons that sell shiitty food. Trendy eyewear says you are available for a man to carry you through the four years. They experiment here but, never apologize later. It's okay to "date" a man twice your age as there is no other way to afford the loft. It's a place where one might ponder why they didn't study harder. Frustrated painters of German descent would fit in here. Tolstoy, Lec Walenska, and Bernie Ebbers would feel right at home. While not outwardly angry, most men would wise to sleep with one eye open with these broads. They actually BELIEVE the lyrics coming out on their radio station are oh so true and may even act them out. Angry? No, but you can sense it from there.

Emory is where "Roswell, East Cobb, Sandy Springs, and parts of Buckhead" kids go. It's a right of passage in the synagogue. If you want to rob a student, here's the place. Don't believe them when they say they don't have a debit card on them. They carry two. Make sure you get the keys as their ride is probably quite nice albeit, German, which is purely ironic considering their history. Go figure. You would think it would always be a Lexus. If you UGA gals are looking for a home run on your "graduate" efforts on marrying well or, are currently gaining weight or have an insatiable appetite for Bon Bons, here's your guy. Ddo it right and all your relatives in the trailer park are set although the holidays may take some getting used to.

GCSU? Why? Why is this college rated high? The campus is a dump and the buildings are shot. And yet, it's expensive. I guess if you are looking to write your first failed novel or, are hell bent on being the absolute best Kindergarden teacher you can possibly be, there is simply no reason to consider this pile. It's like Gulford in Greensboro. Both spend half your tuition on their retirements and the other half on bullshiitting new students into coming. Skip it.

Valdosta State.....well, they are physical. Everyone I know that sent a kid there either had their car broken into or their asses kicked on a routine basis. Quaint campus. But, wherever you go, EVERY establishment will KNOW you are not from there. All the help likes to stare. Especially that bar-b-que joint. Clean, nice parking but I think graduates just disappear as I have never heard of one doing much later. Big on odd sports and import all sorts of gymnasts, volleyballers and has a great football team. Just unclear what they study and what they do later?

Hot in the summer. I mean like plantation slave hot. Cut the air with a knife hot. And the nats! Like sparrows.

CSU and West Georgia. I think this where one goes to develop the better peanut or cow or something. Allegedly good schools for the locals....has a certain cult feel.

SCAD. The ultimate scam. No Monet, Manet or picassos nor Disney animators ever came from he. So,what's to design let alone apply art...to? Thousands attend only to end up at staples later selling mechanical pencils. Why? No ad break throughs, no new ad agencies born. Just kids swindled out of thousands with only coloring books to show for it.
