We have a teenager and are moving from a small city with no jewish kids in his public school and I am hoping to have him in a top public school with some jewish presence either in East Cobb or John's Creek/Alpharetta.
My research shows that East Cobb is the better bet jewish wise, however, I also find that the homes in John's Creek/Alpharetta give me more "bang for my buck".
Does anyone have any experience in these areas of John's Creek regarding the jewish population and affordable housing? What high schools afford him the best jewish connections in John's Creek/Alpharetta? Any High Schools to avoid? Any advice appreciated!

i would definitely check out dunwoody. if you're looking for kosher food and a strong jewish influence, look around toco hill at the intersection of clairmont and north decatur road. there are jews in east cobb, but they are all reform and there isn't much of a focus on moral issues like giving to the poor and fighting for human rights, etc.

If you're moving from an area with no Jewish kids, either one of those choices is going to be a vast improvement.

Don't know specifically about East Cobb, but I do know a few Jewish families who have moved to Johns Creek and are quite happy with the nearby synagogue and schools. They don't keep kosher, but they're not Reform either.
