Hi there! I recently moved to Atlanta to work at Emory and am looking for a new place. Looking to rent around the City of Decatur and was thinking of either settling in Brookhaven (upwards of Lenox Park Blvd, if anyone knows anything about that area) or around the Oakhurst area (area between East Lake Drive and Oakview Ave). I also wonder if anyone is familiar with the cobblestone brookhaven townhouses? I am moving with my friend, and we are two single women. Main concern is safety then distance to Emory, so any other recommended locations would be highly appreciated, as would general advice!

1. Budget - less than $3600
2. House/Condo/Townhome? doesn't matter, pref for house/townhouse though
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) - commute to Emory
4. Children(public school vs. private) - None
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two - suburban
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? - not important
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood. Working professionals, safe for walking

Check out the area along and adjacent to Dresden, just east of Peachtree & MARTA in Brookhaven. There are some beautiful townhomes within walking distance of the Village. I like Cobblestone from passing by, but that's all I know about it.

Oakhurst is great, but I'm not qualified to comment on any particulars. With your budget, you will have no issues in any of the areas you are targeting.
