The Gwinnett Counties schools are generally good (In that area, You can search thru other threads to find HS clusters that are the "Best" ) , Suwanee has tons of soccer players.

All of the schools around are very good. Gwinnett County Public Schools is known as a very good district and Suwanee schools are no exception. A lot of subdivisions have swim clubs. Or if they don't you can have your child join one. For example, my neighborhood has a pool, but no team. However, people I grew up with joined a different neighborhood's team. Tennis is like that too. Gwinnett County has an excellent park system. Youth soccer is popular in the metro Atlanta area. My sister and I both were in youth leagues from around 5 years old to the end of high school. Not sure about softball but I imagine it's offered many places in the county. If your kids want to do orchestra or band just about every middle and high school has a program which is not always the case in rural GA. Suwanee has a "Town Center". I believe they have a lot of family events (the area is very family friendly overall) going on year round. You'll be close to Sugarloaf Mills and Mall of GA. Minor league hockey and baseball is nearby. Very easy on your wallet. Free parking for hockey. Close to Lake Lanier. Great area.

Nice area. It has a cool Town Center that seems to always have something going on right in the heart of the city.

Terrible commute though if your job is going to be inside the perimeter (Dunwoody, Midtown, downtown, etc).

In addition, the Gwinnett County school district has won the Broad Prize award twice (2010 and 2014) and was a finalist in 2009 (For First Time, Two Districts Win 2014 Broad Prize: Gwinnett County Public Schools, Orange County Public Schools Share $1 Million Award).

"The $1 million Broad (rhymes with "road") Prize is an annual award that honors the large urban school districts that demonstrate the strongest overall performance and improvement in student achievement while reducing achievement gaps among low-income students and students of color. Seventy-five of the largest urban school districts in America are automatically eligible for the award each year."

Like the other posters have stated, Suwanee is a really good area that you'll love living in with a Town Center with many activities.

Welcome to Suwanee, Georgia

The Rivermoore Park neighborhood that you are interested in is a really nice neighborhood with a good neighborhood swim team and a location in an excellent area of schools in the North Gwinnett High School cluster of schools in the highly-regarded Gwinnett County Public Schools district.

Naperville and the surrounding area are quite exceptional suburbs and connected to one of the best cities in this country. There's a huge difference between Naperville and the ATL 'burbs.

I wish you best of luck in your new adventure (sincerely) but please prepare yourself for a downgrade in just about everything.

Yep, Suwanee is a really nice area, but there's no comparison between Atlanta and Chicago. From Naperville, you can hop on Metra and head to Chicago (for work or play) where you have an incredible city/waterfront packed with world class amenities. From Suwanee, you have to get in your car and drive to Atlanta, which has none of the above. And then there's the food issue... It's like comparing Disney to a Carnival. However, the weather in Atlanta is much better and you certainly get more house for your money here (mainly due to the much lower property taxes). If you have family here in Suwanee, that's a big plus.

Best of luck to you...
