So . . . there isn't actually anywhere in Atlanta (City of) that is listed? It's all smaller surrounding cities. Kasim is a prominent figure in this press conference, but his city is left out.

City of Atlanta is getting Google Fiber. Atlanta is a city. Brookhaven, Hapeville, etc. All those are cities that are listed. Unincorporated areas outside the city limits will not be getting fiber.

Type in your street address and find out if you are in the city limits ("fiber is coming to your area" response): https://fiber.google.com/cities/atlanta/home/ (Wonder how many people will learn they live outside the city this way?)

I'm just going off what their banner says.

"Atlanta, Fiber is coming to Avondale Estates, Brookhaven, College Park, Decatur, East Point, Hapeville, Sandy Springs, Smyrna"

It does not say " Fiber is coming to Atlanta, Avondale Estates, Brookhaven, College Park, Decatur, East Point, Hapeville, Sandy Springs, Smyrna"

There is more information out there than just what is in the sub-text of that one banner.

Edit:
There is a simple way to see if you will be served: Go to the Google Fiber site. Put in your address. My current address inside the Atlanta city limits return a "Google Fiber is coming to Atlanta" response. My old address in Uni-DeKalb returns a "Google Fiber isn't available for this area".

At the beginning of the press conference Mayor Reed introduced Google Fiber by saying that "In addition to Atlanta, Google Fiber will be coming to Avondale estates, etc..."

So, I think it's safe to say that Atlanta proper will be getting Google Fiber.

I`m paying 44 for 50mbs per second with Comcast and the promo pricing ends in Nov, but I might sign up for Google Fiber ASAP just incase there is a huge wait

This is huge. Building fiber infrastructure in places like New York, DC, San Francisco, Chicago is difficult. Atlanta will be the biggest city with widespread fiber, and it will be for at least a decade.
