I think going up to $2.50 hurt MARTA. They really need to look at distance based fares.

Ditto on your $1.25 fare with the cute new extensions getting ready to open.

51,000 people in a month seems like a lot to me. Isn't that higher than projected?

Agreed. Please just do distanced based fares and integrate the systems.

That works out to 1800 people per day which is less than projected. I'd like to see the numbers for weekday vs weekend service though, with the heavy rail utterly nerfed on weekends, I'd expect streetcar ridership to be lower simply because people won't be using transit to get downtown at all.

Lower than projected AND it is FREE. This certainly seems like a poor choice for the starter line.

I'm sure it will pick up once more people hear about it.

As I said, I'd like to see a breakdown of the data on weekdays vs. weekends, but even so, the ridership looks dismal as even if the weekends had no ridership whatsoever, ridership would only be 2,550. Hopefully we can get a second phase (first phase??) in quickly before it becomes too late. Maybe we can get the spur down to Five Points/MMPT done first, that right there will boost ridership a bit as it reduces the transfers to get on the system. Then hopefully an extension farther west at least to the Aquarium itself.

You're kidding, right? It's not exactly a secret, anyone that's down there for work or lives there would have to be living under a rock not to know about the huge blue vehicles plying the streets. Anyone else has heard lots of news about it. It was the top story most of the week it first ran!

I wonder if numbers could go down after the newness wears. I hope they go up, but I don't think it can be assumed.

How many fan-boy riders went down and rode it the first few weeks just out of curiosity even though they have no need to ever really ride it again? I'm one. I went and took it for a spin... a very, very SLOW ride. I likely have no need to ever ride it again. I'm sure the numbers are inflated by this newness/intrigue significantly.
