Plus so many areas in the city like West Midtown and North Ave need light rail ASAP.

IMO
Where did I mention Buckhead Atlanta, Ponce City Market, shopping, restaurants, clubs, or entertainment?

I said basically Atlanta has everything generally speaking but we need to improve our transportation network and greenspace the most. If Atlanta had a list of things that needs to be improved transportation and greenspace will be at the top of that list

I'm sorry, I must not understand the concept of what you are calling the "Beltline." I thought that ONLY the part of the old rail lines that form a basic circle around the core of Atlanta that are being converted to walking/jogging trails was the "Beltline." I understood that light rail might eventually be incorporated into this circular loop. The "streetcar" project I understood as a "network" travelling through the streets of the central city. Unless you mean that they are being planned/funded at the same time, which I wasn't aware of (which is good).

How in the heck did that happen? Didn't they start out as separate projects?

If the city/Beltline has money for streetcars they sure as heck need to pay the School board.

Glad to see a logical reasonable post from you. You're absolutely correct. We need more greenspace, public spaces, and transportation.

I really wish Bellwood Quarry was left in it's current state....the blue water and the cliffs really making it seem like you're in the mountains or something, not 1 mile away from being in the center of a 6 million person metropolis. Regardless, the park expansion will be exciting and Westside residents will be happy.

Are there currently any timelines for the Streetcar expansion? This would absolutely be better than downtown Atlanta streetcar...I regularly go from downtown to the beltline walking.

The original beltline project was envisioned as a transportation corridor, not just parks and trails. Transit has always been part of the project.

Since the streetcar network was planning on using the beltline and transit has always been part of the beltline project, it makes sense for the 2 to merge.

You said "no" to my post, even though I said pretty much what you are saying. I just care more about completing the walking/jogging trail around the Beltline loop. Last I read about that, they were saying 30 years...

OK, thanks. I knew light rail was planned, but it isn't there yet. It's still a "future" project. When I see footage of the Beltline, I don't yet see any rails. I just saw a clash in terminology when someone said that the Beltline and the streetcar were one and the same. I guess. The "Beltline" to me is the loop around the core with walking/jogging trails (and future light rail). If the projects are being planned/initiated together, then the terminology does make sense.

(I think it's time for me to take a rest from City-Data.)
