Does anyone know of or can recommend an authentic Chinese restaurant in either Chamblee or Doraville? Particularly an establishment that's easily accessible by MARTA?

Gu's Bistro is one of the best; it's a 5 minute bus ride on route 124, which leaves from the Doraville MARTA rail station.

I suggest going to the Chinatown Food Court on New Peachtree Rd. It is a short walk from the Chamblee Marta station. Be mindful it is a food court but the food is very authentic and the large number of native Chinese eating there is evidence of that. 2 places worth trying is Chong Qing Hot Pot.. very authentic Sichuan cuisine with big portions and great prices. I took several friends there who were visiting from CA but were originally from Sichuan China and they were VERY impressed with the quality and authenticity and especially the prices. Also, next to Chong Qing hot pot is China Kitchen.. which specializes in more northern style chinese.. dumplings, buns, krullers, noodles.. all very good and reasonably priced. Gu's is also excellent but much more pricey than Chong Qing Hot pot.. I think for the money, Chong Qing is better. If you go to the Chinatown Food court that is where they have the annual Chinese new Year festival. I think that is Saturday

I live 10 minutes from here J2201987, and this is accurate spot-on information.

Yeah, you need to do is open up Google, search for Chinese near Doraville or Chamblee, and then throw a dart at the map. There are that many options and it all comes down to what you want to eat.

For dim sum, I'd go with Oriental Pearl. Royal China isn't bad, but the restaurant itself is a little dated.

For bao, the best is at Northern China Eatery.

For barbecue, Mings is good...and they now take credit cards!

For Beijing style kabobs, I'd go with Kochi Maru and get a table where you can have the kabobs cooked over coals. The nice thing about this place versus other kabob spots is that it's own by a Korean lady who lived in Beijing for a long time so also get Korean style bantam with your meal, naturally.

Oh, and all of these spots are easily accessible by either MARTA train or bus. The #39 bus on Buford Highway is one of the faster running buses in the whole city (I think fastest, but I'm lazy to look it up.)

For a big sit down meal, I'd go with Chef Liu or Bobo Garden.

If you want to explore the dozens of other Asian offerings, let me know. Lots of Korean, Indonesian, Viet, Malaysian, Indian, Bangladeshi (my current obsession), and other options in Chamblee/Doraville.

Brilliant post, waronxmas!

What I really love as someone that lives on the NE side of town is as you go further out into Gwinnett, the Korean influence just keeps exploding! I am in total love with their food & culture.

I admit I'm biased though, as I have several close Korean friends that love to indoctrinate me - and I am totally willing.
