Yesterday I was out grilling ribs. Yes, in 20 degree weather. It was quite crisp. I heard a thump in the trees. When I looked up I didn't know if it was a squirrel with a bird or a bird that caught a squirrel. Couldn't really tell what it was on the high tree limbs. Opened the grill and placed the cooked ribs on my platter and heard more rustling. When I looked again, that Falcon had flew closer to the low hanging limbs and was eyeballing me!@ this city girl almost **** a brick. Those eyes were a piercing brown outlined in yellow with a huge wing span. My phone was inside, otherwise I would have snapped a picture. So, anyone else have a falcon encounter????

I live in Marietta, and we have one that hangs out in our backyard, I was surprised the first time I saw it also!

I live in NW DeKalb, and we have one visit in the greenbelt behind our place in the Spring. I was shocked the first time too! This is a big, beautiful bird - but pretty menacing looking.

We had several in yard in Midtown. When one of my dogs was a little, I feared for her. Had an owl and several opossums, too.

Have yet to see a peregrine falcon in the wild, plenty of Cooper's hawks though.

Very glad falcons are making a comeback, they had been severely affected by pesticides no longer in use.

Last fall my kids and I were walking down McLendon in Candler Park when we witnessed a hawk swoop down to snatch a squirrel and then take it up into a tree to rip it apart. Circle of Life, kids!

It was probably smelling (and eyeballing) your ribs. If you had not been out there, he might would have snatched one. LOL

Several years ago Mom and I were outside with her cat. She was growling strangely and hunkered down close to the ground. She crouched and went under the car. At first we didn't know what in the world was wrong with her. Then we saw a shadow of a flying bird. There was a hawk circling her high above! I swear that cat KNEW that hawk was after her and she was plenty frightened. They have been known to snatch away small dogs and cats...
