To anyone who has (had) a direct experience with Athens Academy (am I even in the right forum? I assume so...), what is your opinion in terms of academics and social life? Any flags I should be aware of? Do you like, overall, the teachers? Are they, overall, caring? Is the school, overall, welcoming and a nice place to grow up? I am interested particularly in the high school. We are considering a career move and school is a conditional factor (after the job, that is...) Thank you!

Know a few guys through their from college and hanging out in Athens. They are all from affluent families who went to good schools. All know have a good time and have thriving social lives. If I were a parent and lived in the area, I would want my kids going there. They do anything from working at their dad's dealership to flying planes to producing digital media in LA

Can't really answer your specific questions, but, since few others have responded, I have friends whose daughter went there and then to a prestigious eastern college. Athens Academy seems to be pretty well thought of.

The Oconnee County public schools are pretty well thought of as well. Many UGA employees live there.

I had a friend who had a son at Athens Academy on scholarship, and a son and another daughter in Oconee schools. They all excelled academically, were great pianists, and seem happy. Although she and her husband had the money, I doubt she would have paid to send her son to AA over Oconee schools.
