This will be huge for Fayette and the Southside.....
Quote:
A Fayette County movie production center plans to add almost 2 million square feet of studio space, more than 1,300 homes, hotels, offices and other facilities over the next seven years.

The expansion, which promises to create something of a moviemaking company town, reflects the huge growth of film production in a state that has courted the industry with generous incentives.

Did a secret deal go down that we don't know about because I wouldn't invest this much into this industry not knowing if these tax credits will go away in the future like in other places. Am I missing something?

As a guy originally from Fayette County, I'm excited about the studio, which should keep Fayette County a vital area.

As a Georgian, I'm skeptical of the film credits, and I'm not sure how much good they're doing the state.

I would think that the people actually investing the millions of dollars have likely done some research into it and aren't just building all this stuff in the hopes that it might do something.

I think it's the most interesting industry that a region can have and I'm enjoying following it. Metro Atlanta is seeing an infrastructure developing here that can handle the biggest movie projects.

That's already been proven. Ant Man was pretty huge, taking up the entire Pinewood facility (every stage, every office, every shop) for more than 5 months. And now Pinewood is more than doubling in size?

And with the OFS studio in the works, and numerous other facilities around town (seriously, you wouldn't believe how many warehouses there are doing film/tv projects in the most random locations), we're beefing up. Now, all we need is a water tank stage, and we're good to go.

The downside is that most of the bigger studio facilities are far outside of town, making it difficult to get around.

The next huge Pinewood Atlanta project is Captain America 3, which will also have Iron Man and Spiderman. Filming is supposed to begin in April.
