Should businesses restrict customers only to the local community?

No, but they should be PART of the community. Hopefully that will come with time. I was simply stating my observations. Don't like it, don't read it.

So, Little 5 Points should look like down town Decatur?

Is L5P in downtown Decatur? You are comparing Apples to Oranges.
From what I saw, The Garage does little to benefit the existing residents of the surrounding communities; which have higher than metro avg poverty, unemployment, education attainment rates. As Lee+White continues to be redevelopment, let's hope there are businesses that bring benefit to the existing residents.
Eg: Edgewood Retail District, brought much needed retail, grocery, hardware, big box retail to communities that did not have access to those amenities.

It was (mostly) a joke.

In the last 30 years the neighborhoods surrounding Little 5 Points have become more like City of Decatur neighborhoods are now, while the core business area of Little 5 Points is similar to what it was 30 years ago.

But, I guess if you have to explain it, it really isn’t that funny.

West End is absolutely moving forward and blowing up. Just saw this on the West Neighbors page on Facebook.

"Hey West End neighbors. Just wanted to share that my fiance, & I just signed a lease on an office/warehouse in the neighborhood to open my chiropractic practice & a community gym! We'll have CrossFit & yoga & more. Look for more info on SWATL Health & Fitness soon!"
