Is it necessary to replace professional sport venues every 20 years?

Philips Center is good enough for basketball and hockey.

Attendance is way up. Hawks are 2nd in the NBA in attendance the last 2 months. Behind only Cleveland. Atlanta likes winners, and they finally put a winning product in the floor that actually has a legitimate shot at competing for a title. This team has a winning foundation and will be a factor for some years to come. Attendance will continue to go up.

Malone probably won't win the bid anyway. Usually when it comes to sports franchises the bidder whose name gets "leaked" to the media isn't the one who ends up buying the team. Just a tactic used by teams to garner more interest. Malone's bid was just the late comer to the group.

Unlike Turner Field, Phillip Arena is located in the urban core of Dwontown Atlanta and with all the development in the pipeline for downtown it would be foolish to uproot the Hawks. Phillips is a great arena, in the perfect area for an NBA team.

Must be a slow news day and week for Atlanta Business Chronicle. ABC generally don't publish speculated article like this one.

You have to admit a Braves/Hawks sports complex would be one heckuva draw.

Sorry, but a Hawks move to Cobb is not gonna happen.

Hawks demographics is much different than the Braves. Far more blacks and most of the blacks are in the southern half of the metro...Why would they move to Cobb?

Yeah, the current NBA / NFL (and soon MLS) combination is a much better fit and location.
