Did I say anything false? His visit is only to raise money. The trip to GT is just to justify public expenses for a fundraising trip. I'm surprised people are ok with this system.

Pain can be mitigated pretty easily by not leaving at 5. It's a jerk move.

He's the president of the USA. Who are you again?

Failing to see what that has to do with anything.

Its totally cool for the Pres to stop by and I would be excited for it. But they decided to move through town at the absolute most inconvenient time of day. It's one of the more self centered things a person could do. No President is anywhere close to worthy of this for a fundraising event.

Looks like it was more than a simple fundraiser attendance.

After watching his speech in person, all my cynical self can say is...meh.

Is it great that the POTUS stopped by to speak to the students, alumni, and faculty of GT? Yes. Was his speech memorable? For GT students, yes. Was there any policy or substantive points made in his speech? Sort of. I do like the "Bill of Rights" he proposed, but of course he also mentioned the free community college plan (i.e. the non-starter) and went on to use feel-good talk like "the brightest and best generation ever".

That's not to mention that the line was ridiculous, my seat was so high up that President Obama himself looked like an ant, at the end we all had to crowd in line for twenty minutes waiting for the Secret Service and police to let us out, and I was late for my next class!

Thanks, Obama.

Hate to be so cynical, but all the other stops were just an excuse to have the taxpayers pay for a fundraising trip.

Huh...

Glad you got to see him skbl, its gonna be cool to be able to say you saw the Pres speak.

Who on Earth said that??? Not anyone in this thread. Stop making stuff up.

You'd be irritated about it too if your already mind-numbing commute was ground to a halt.
