My family is relocating to the ATL area, we need some help on areas to house hunt. We are working with a realtor and have been focusing on the area East Cobb (30067, 30068) or Lower Roswell/Alpharetta (30022/30076). Have seen new homes further north (Crabapple) but fear this may be too far out. Any suggestions? Also struggling with childcare options, do not want a traditional daycare environment...really seeking something special, high quality.

1. Budget - $650k
2. House/Condo/Townhome? - House
3. Employment Status(commute/work from home) - Combo, office is in Vinings but can work from home most days
4. Children(public school vs. private) - Daycare (need options!!) Prefer Private Montessori-style but have toured Goddard and could make that work.
5. Suburban or Urban lifestyle preference or a mix of the two. Suburban
6. Easy access to public transit, important or not? Not
7. Preferable demographics of desired neighborhood.

Any advice on the Roswell Country Club and the surrounding neighborhoods. Looking for Swim/Tennis community for social aspects.

TIA!

Don't forget about 30075 (Roswell and Mountain Park). Lots of wonderful homes available for your budget. Public schools are amazing.

You have good options.

If the job is in Vinings, I recommend East Cobb.

Also consider zip codes 30062 and 30066 (and 30075 as mentioned above).

Agree with everyone else, we live in 30066, and looked in all the above zip codes. They all have great schools, are within 15 mins of each other, and there is a lot in your price range. I would just caution the two zip codes you are currently focsed on-30067 and 30068 as part of those zip code feeds into some schools that arent as good as some of the other zip codes, but still good.

Thanks everyone! I'll check out 30066 also. Any advice on infant care in the area? Seems like this is hard to come by, or if there are any I should avoid...that would be helpful. Thanks!!

How long woulda commute to Vinings be from these zips?

Is there a reason you haven't looked close to your job, in Vinings or Smyrna? Those are highly desirable areas, and you'd easily find a very nice house in any part of Smyrna for well under $650k, with plenty of money left over for private schools. You might not be able to do so quite as easily in "historic" Vinings, where houses often run over $1M, but unless your job is actually in Vinings Village, you're probably better off in Smyrna anyways, as Paces Ferry can get pretty congested where it narrows to two lanes at the RR tracks and at the Paces Mill intersection.
