The inset on the original article shows the current boundaries, but its pretty small and makes it hard to identify specifics.

Well, you snooze you lose, LOL. Atlanta going hard for both this annexation bill and the one to unite unincorporated Druid Hills with the existing Druid Hills neighborhood.

Quite realistic. Loch Lomond and Sandtown have both been in continuous discussions with Atlanta about annexation. Instead their state representation submitting a bill to just annex everything north of the Camp Creek waterway in unincorporated Fulton County.

It looks like the City of South Fulton proposal is now lying on the cutting room floor according to reports published in the AJC Political Blog...

The email chain we saw included this reaction from state Rep. LaDawn Jones, D-Atlanta:

“I am looking to get a complete understanding of the intent of these bills. This proposal was first sold as Sandtown citizens wanting to go into Atlanta. Then the first map shows you took an entire commercial area. Now your new map increases it from 20,000 residents to well over 80,000 residents in the South Fulton area. It also leaves a ton of unincorporated islands throughout South Fulton that could not be a viable city on [its] own.

This new map looks very dangerous and reckless. I’m very disappointed.”
Nice hyperbole and lie about the population there. Think she's trying to be mayor of the new city?

She likely would put in for it, but the bill for it won't be happening this year. She and Bruce needs to let that idea go because the people have spoken and they don't want a new municipality with an anemic tax base. They would rather be apart of Atlanta and other existing municipalities. Also the map shows the areas left out are for Union City, East Point, and Fairburn to annex the rest.

Its the city of South Fulton that creates incorporated islands. The Atlanta annexation looks logical and geographically sound from Atlanta's standpoint. Now it does look like Atlanta is splitting unincorporated South Fulton in two. From that map, it looks like the annexation will border with Union City and East Point. But then the area south of College Park and the area near Chattahoochee Hills didn't make much sense being in the same city anyway.

I wonder if doing this would increase the black percentage of the city again and the chances of a white mayor decreases for another 2-3 decades.

city of South Fulton passed the house today 148-21 according to AJC. It passed bigger than LaVista Hills or Tucker.
