Maybe it is payback for the ATL trying to grab Cumberland for no money.

Please stop now because this is quite possibly the most asinine justification ever. A legislator from Butts County could truly careless about Cobb County in the grand scheme of things. If anything somebody from that area would be clueless on the depth of this matter.

That was proposed by a state Representative, not the city, who also happens to represent south Cobb.

I'm not saying I agree with it because I don't, but politics can be like that. You poke one group in the eye and some other group may poke you back.

This is a ridiculous idea and this shows why some of the rural counties truly hate Atlanta. Never heard an Atlanta state Representative attempting to take the port of Savannah or anything other the the ridiculous annexation of Cumberland. Atlanta is the economic engine of the state, without it, GA would be another poor southern state.
Can you not understand a bit of tongue in cheek? Of course the state wouldn't pay what the airport is worth because the state can't afford it. Just a suggestion for the CoA's response. Put a price on it that makes it worth it and would shut up pretenders.

The Atlanta vs. the rest of the state arguments are silly and non productive. If Atlanta didn't exist, the resources, people and geographical position of the state of Georgia would have produced an Atlanta elsewhere. We might be on the Macon page right now complaining about these same things... or Milledgeville or Covington or Griffin... or any other centrally located burg that the growth would have gone to.

Or maybe a scenario more like NC where Columbus, Augusta and Savannah were the size of Charlotte, Raleigh/Durham and Greensboro/Winston-Salem. Point is, Atlanta did not happen in a vaccuum. It's time recent arrivals realize the history of the state and why Atlanta is what it is.

Anyone telling Arjay (with an excellent reputation on this thread and a thorough undestanding of the ins and outs of the workings and history of both Atlanta and the state of Georgia BTW) that he is ridiculous is the one that needs to just stop now.

It's so hard to read inflection online.
