This will be a positive step for the state when it comes to our craft beer industry....

The bill, which passed 51-5 and now moves to the state House of Representatives, would let Georgia's rapidly growing craft brewery industry compete with surrounding states that already allow direct sales, said Sen. Hunter Hill, R-Atlanta, the bill's chief sponsor.
"Georgia law is punitive to breweries," he said. "Senate Bill 63 is about jobs and free market competitiveness in a burgeoning industry in which we are not reaching our potential."
Hill's bill would let brew pubs package beer brewed on site for sale in growlers containing up to 64 ounces. Breweries would be able to sell up to 36 ounces of craft beer for on-premises consumption.

Small government only when my donor dollars are not tied to the industry against the passage of the legislation.
