I'm thinking about moving to GA to follow family. Looking to live near Acworth. Was wondering if I can get any insight on job opportunities. I'm a special education teacher. I primarily have been working with children birth to 3 yrs old. Do they have Early Intervention teachers that travel to students homes in GA? If so does anyone know the salary for such as teacher. Also open to other Spec Ed positions. As a Early Intervention teacher in NY I'm used to traveling a lot throughout the day from case to case. Obviously would like to work close to where I live but I assume I would have to commute to Atlanta for work.

As far as special ed schools, there are a big number in North Fulton County in Roswell and Alpharetta. Not so many in Cobb County, but there are, of course, a lot of public schools. Don't know about the EI programs here. Texas did it similarly to NY, so that may be pretty standard.

Default early intervention programs

The program in GA is called Babies Can't Wait. I'm not sure how you get job info but you can google that for any county you wish and it will come up. You go into homes, daycares, ect. The salaries will not be as good as up north but the living expenses down here are pretty cheap. There are positions in large school counties such as Gwinnett for special ed teachers - that would pay more as far as I know.

Being special education certified is a big boon to your job prospects! Many school systems actually pay bonuses to special education teachers who "sign up early". I would apply on-line to many of the Metro-Atlanta school districts. Since you are considering northern Cobb County, I would first apply in Cobb County Schools, Marietta City Schools, Bartow County Schools, Cartersville City Schools, or even Polk County. I think you will be surprised at how many bites you will get. Also, I believe the "Babies Can't Wait" pre-school programs are run by the individual counties; I would search "Babies Can't Wait and Georgia" on the internet to get more information. Good luck in your search.

I thought Fulton County was paying signing bonuses for high need areas such as math, science and Special Ed.
