It's now top 5 for raw job growth in the country and saw a 4.3% increase in jobs between Jan 2014 and Jan 2015 which is much higher than the country's average. What's noteworthy is that this may be the first time Atlanta has beaten Houston in job growth annually in many many years and with continued great economic outlooks, this number will probably continue to increase. Congrats Atlanta.

Much better numbers compared to the estimates of around 65,000!

A drive around town will pretty much confirm that we are back in a big way, though.

This is different for us, as in past recessions we were always one of the first to recover.

I wonder if Dallas is considered Dallas + Ft. Worth and DC is considered DC + Baltimore. If so, that makes these absolute numbers even more impressive considering that Dallas/Ft. Worth and DC/Baltimore have many more people than Atlanta.

Interesting that Houston is still so high. I would expect the oil dip to put a damper on jobs there.

It has in fact declined. It was #1 in job growth a number of times recently. I believe it was #1 last year in fact, with around 140,000 jobs. I don't wish ill on anyone, however.

The DC/Baltimore CSA has a significantly larger population with 9.4 million, but not so Dallas/Ft. Worth with 7.2 million versus Atlanta's 6.2 million. These numbers are 2 years old already but 7.2 million is not significantly larger than 6.2 million statistically speaking. On a bar or line graph, it would be miniscule.

What numbers are two years old?

And DFW is 17% larger than Atlanta's CSA; not a huge difference but statistically significant and certainly not "miniscule."
