Hi!

No disrespect meant. I'm just trying to figure out why a family might want to stay in Buckhead? Is there much to with kids under 15 -- or would it be better for the family to stay downtown?

Thanks!

Alley

Buckhead is for shopping and Legoland. It's a good central point for the suburbs and the city

Downtown is for big events and museums. The Ferris wheel is also downtown. A 15 year old will like Topgolf in Alpharetta, Main Event entertainment in Alpharetta and Atlanta. Dave and Busters, Six Flags, White Water, etc

Buckhead has lots of very nice hotels ... big shiny buildings .... fancy shopping malls ... tons of restaurants ... two MARTA lines and easy access to the freeways for getting around the city ... and no homeless people.

Also the Atlanta History Center is in Buckhead. But more of the tourist attractions are downtown.

With kids under 15, I'd say your best bet is to stay downtown where most of the touristy attraction are, and take MARTA to Buckhead if you want to go to Legoland. Aside from that, there isn't a ton in Buckhead directly geared towards children. You're also more likely to run into free events (concerts/festivals/etc.)in the park downtown than you would be if you stayed up in Buckhead.

If your kids are over 7 or 8 they will get bored quickly at LEGOLAND which is geared towards younger children.

I'd say you are a couple years off. They don't really start doing some of the interesting stuff until 7 or 8. Of course, it depends on the kid.

I have a friend that took her 8 and 10 year old to LEGOLAND. It was fine for the 8 year old and would have been boring to the 10 year old except that he enjoys playing big brother to the 8 year old. She mentioned she was glad she squeezed it in because any later they would have both been bored.
