Hi guys!

We're currently in the early stages of relocating to Gwinnett County. We have family that recently moved to the area, and even before that, my husband and I were pretty familiar with the area. We've visiting several times within the past year (we live in AL).

My husband is currently seeking a job. Nothing firm, but things are looking promising.

I've been looking for a house in the area that we could rent for about a year. I've checked sites like Trulia, Zillows, Rentals.com, etc, but it seems like most of the houses in the area are rented out by property management companies. I've Googled them and those that have reviews are seriously hit or miss. Like, slumlord horror stories. We know people who are renting from some of these companies and haven't had major issues, while others said that they've had an issue with rent cheques getting lost. Some might advise taking the risk, but I'd hate to be one of those 'misses', kwim?

So, I would to know where we could find a listing a private individuals with houses up for rent, or maybe a small, locally owned management company. I know there can be private party slumlords, but I think this might be the better option. 3 to 4 bedrooms, large backyard, etc. We would to keep rent under $1300, $1400 at the most, so we can continue saving for a house. Areas we're looking at are Grayson, Lawrenceville, Snellville, maaaaaaybe Duluth.

Realistically, we probably won't be moving until mid to late summer, but I wanted to get a headstart on things, and just in case things move quicker than expected, we'd have a plan. Thanks again!

Craigslist. Renters and rentals are going to be hit and miss pretty much everywhere.

Thanks Jeoff. I did look on Craigslist. There are some nice homes for rent there. I'll keep it in mind for when we need it.

When I was looking to rent a few years ago I contacted several real estate agents. I told them what I wanted, they emailed me listings and even took me out to see the properties I was interested in. It may have been that the market was slow at the time, but they sure seemed eager for my business
