If you can please advise...we will be moving to Atlanta in the summer of 2017 on completion of my sons education in the UK. He will be 16 and I'm trying to find out if he would have to finish high school,in the US as they finish 17/18 yrs old. In the UK my 16 yr old son would go onto college and study a specific interest. Any info would be great.

Just to throw something else into the mix...my son has learning difficulties. Dyslexia, processing and short term memory issues. He handles mainstream fine with a lot of support, however he is below average and cannot wait to finish school and start something he's really interested in such as media studies, photography, drama etc.

Another factor to throw in...we would probably be going private, unless we could find a school that would cater for his difficulties. It will also likely be the Forsyth area.

Any info would really help as we are buying a property now as partner is working in the US.

Your son should not have to go to high school, but keep in mind that colleges/universities here and technical schools may not offer the supports he needs to be successful.

What is your vision of his logical next step?

It is best to contact the school district or school itself and ask what their guidelines are according to his current education.
That is the best way to find out the true information you need.
